train station in riyadh on my way to Dammam

Wednesday, May 24th, 2006

A very quick post. Right now I’m using my friend’s laptop in a wifi zone located in the train station in Riyadh. I took a few photos of the train station with the camera in my telephone (which is pretty bad quality but hopefully good enough). So far it looks very clean, actually as clean as the airport. Its much cleaner than the one in Cairo. I have to run to catch the train.

Enjoy the pics.

Cheers!

in Riyadh now…

Saturday, May 13th, 2006

Hello everyone or I guess it should be Mar7aba..or ya hala..:D
Arrived in Riyadh on Sunday night for a work related assignment. I’ll be here for sometime …a few months. Hopefully I’ll be having a few trips outside of Riyadh during my stay…currently I’m thinking of Makkah, Madina, Abha, Khobar and hopefully Bahrain Insha2Allah. According to people Riyadh is one of the most boring places on earth. There aren’t any cinemas here, women aren’t allowed to drive and in restaurants families sit in a different area than ’single men’ whom I get the feeling that they’re sometimes a threat to national security :D . Anyways with all that I truely believe that if you’re with the right people one’s stay in Riyadh could be a ‘not so boring experience’ if not an enjoyable one.
Last time I was in Riyadh was a pretty long time ago, I used to live here when I was a kid…last time I was here was around 92 or 93 and there’re several differences to notice. Last time I was here there weren’t any of those ‘towers’ like Faisaliyah tower or the Kingdom tower. I remember that in the place of Faisaliyah tower there was a supermarket called Sarawat and Toyland (where I bought many of my toys). Good old memories…:D

Anyways I’m too tired now, I’ll have another post pretty soon Insha2Allah.

Cheers!

Duomo di Milano

Tuesday, May 2nd, 2006

Following is a photo of the Duomo di Milano I took during my visit to Italy last January. It was under reonvation, so a lot of the cathedral isn’t visible from the outside…a very very impressive structure.
