Its been quite a while since I had a post. I don’t know why…too lazy I guess…
Anyways been a busy months. The last post was about the train station in Riyadh when I was going to Dammam which is in the Eastern Province in Saudi Arabia. I had a quick visit to Bahrain which is just a bridge away from Saudi. Bahrain has a population of less than 700,000. Compared to the neighbouring Saudi Arabia, Bahrain’s very different. It has cinemas, alchohol, prostitution, women drive, no ‘dress code’ like Saudi, etc. One thing I realized about Bahraini nationals is that a lot of them are relatively down to earth compared to Saudis. The Bahraini arabic accent is very different than the Saudi one. Overall Bahrain is one of the places that I’d like to visit again. With regards to the political scene in Bahrain, every now and then it has some unrest between the Sunni and Shiaa populations. Bahrain is one of the few countries in the GCC were non-nationals could actually get the Bahraini citizenship if they spend a certain number of years in Bahrain (I’m not sure exactly how long but I’m talking in decades here :) ). Believe it or not Bahrain was the center of the lost civilization of Dilmun dating back to around 3000 BC. I visited a museum in Bahrain which has a lot of details about the different sites and excavations that happened in Bahrain. For some reason I had to take a picture of the following, I know the resolution isn’t the best but I found it rather interesting.

Following are 2 photos of the train between Riyadh and Dammam:

Anyways…Hopefully I’ll be having more posts soon.
Have a nice day!
